One of the important and distinctive features of the Buyid dynasty is the presence of religious concepts and elements, and the works left from this era can be considered works of Shia art. Meanwhile, the role of religious art and the active presence of Al-Bouyeh religious artists during the formation of Islamic art is significant. The Buyid era played a significant role in the formation of Islamic art and is truly a period of scientific, cultural, and artistic renaissance and rebirth in the history of Iranian-Islamic art. Due to the lack of sufficient research, artworks from this period are generally unknown and sometimes attributed to other periods. In the field of art, the Buyids played the role of transmitting the heritage of ancient Iranian art, especially the Sassanids, to Islamic art, and the aesthetic principles that exist in the Buyids’ art are precisely consistent with the aesthetic principles of ancient Iran and Islamic art.
The book Shiite Art of the Buyids, written by Dr. Shayestefar, is one of the first scientific works in the field of history and art that comprehensively examines the art of this period in Iranian history. This work is written on 238 pages and published by Islamic Art Studies Publications. The outstanding feature of this work is its simultaneous historical, religious and artistic study. This work consists of 5 chapters: the first chapter deals with the historical background, campaigns and wars of this period, the second chapter deals with the roots of prosperity and the introduction of historians, scholars and writers, the third chapter deals with the importance of manuscripts and the art of book layout, the fourth chapter deals with the architecture of buildings and inscriptions and the surviving works, and finally the fifth chapter deals with the methods and techniques of producing works of art and the decorations used in them.
